Governor Rendell Invites Public, Dairy Enthusiasts to 46th All-American Show

Published September 10th, 2009

Governor Edward G. Rendell today invited the public to attend the 46th All-American Dairy Show, to be held Sept. 19-24 at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex & Expo Center in Harrisburg.

“For 46 years, Pennsylvania has been honored to host the All-American Dairy Show, which brings thousands of dairy enthusiasts to Harrisburg,” said Governor Rendell. “This event showcases our state’s number one agricultural industry — one that contributes $4.2 billion to our economy — and the 8,200 dairy farm families who are committed to providing a safe, abundant supply of milk and dairy products.”

More than 2,500 animals from 28 U. S. states and Canadian provinces are entered to exhibit in 23 shows during the six-day event.

Youth will be “Aiming for the Stars” as they participate in the Premier National Junior Events, Sept. 19-22. Last year, more than 1,500 youth from around the nation exhibited cattle and competed in showmanship, judging and management contests.

The national junior shows and the national open shows will culminate with the selection of supreme champions. The junior show champion will be chosen at 3 p.m. on Sept. 21 and the open show concludes the week’s activities at 2 p.m. on Sept. 24.

New this year, a dairy antiques consignment auction held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22 in the PA Preferred Banquet Hall will feature rare and unique items. The auction is part of the 12th Annual All-Dairy Antiques & Collectibles Show, Sept. 18-23. The one-of-a-kind show highlights collectibles featuring the Guernsey breed and dairy items from museums and private collections dating back to the 1800s.

“The show is on course to be the best yet, and we thank the countless volunteers who work tirelessly, year after year, to make the show a great success,” said Governor Rendell.

The Rendell administration is committed to creating a first-rate public education system, protecting our most vulnerable citizens and continuing economic investment to support our communities and businesses.
